Thousands Flee L.A. Fires, Celebs Abandon Homes as Gavin Newsom Promises Support [WATCH]

Tens of thousands of residents in the Los Angeles area, including notable celebrities, have been ordered to evacuate as wildfires [1] rage across Pacific Palisades and Altadena.

The Pacific Palisades fire, which began earlier this week, has burned over 2,900 acres and shows no signs of slowing.

Meanwhile, the Eaton Fire in Altadena erupted late Tuesday, consuming more than 400 acres and triggering additional evacuation orders.

California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency after visiting Pacific Palisades and meeting with first responders.

Newsom warned that the situation remains dire as winds reaching up to 100 mph are forecast to intensify the fires. “By no stretch of the imagination are we out of the woods,” Newsom said.

He also noted seeing “many structures already destroyed” in the affected area.

Residents fled their homes, many abandoning their cars as flames engulfed roadways.

Emmy-winning actor James Woods shared his experience on social media, revealing his neighbor’s home was lost in the fire.

Others, like Kelsey Trainor, described scenes of panic: “People were getting out of the cars with their dogs and babies and bags, they were crying and screaming.” In some cases, residents walked toward the ocean to escape the blaze.

Actor Steve Guttenberg was among those assisting during the crisis.

Speaking with KTLA, he urged residents to leave their car keys behind if abandoning vehicles. “We really need people to move their cars…so these fire trucks can get up there,” he said.

The Los Angeles Police Department deployed over 100 officers to aid firefighters with evacuation efforts and traffic control.

LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell emphasized the importance of keeping roads clear for emergency responders, stating, “Please do everything you can to open up the streets so we can get the resources we need.”

The Los Angeles Fire Department called on off-duty personnel to assist as the fire spread rapidly due to strong winds and dry conditions.

A live feed from UC San Diego showed smoke rising from hillsides near Pacific Palisades, with flames advancing at a staggering rate of 200 acres per hour.

Reality TV stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag were among those who lost their homes in the blaze.

The National Weather Service issued a warning for an extreme wildfire threat across Southern California through Wednesday, describing the situation as a “Particularly Dangerous Situation.” Winds of up to 100 mph are expected in remote areas, further complicating firefighting efforts.

Joe Biden announced federal support for California, including a Fire Management Assistance Grant to help cover immediate firefighting costs. “My Administration will do everything it can to support the response,” Biden said in a statement.

In Altadena, emergency personnel worked to evacuate a senior living community as the Eaton Fire destroyed homes.

Residents, some in wheelchairs, were rushed to safety as the fire grew.

Power outages have affected over 28,000 homes, with utility companies shutting off power in some areas to reduce fire risks.

The strongest winds are expected to continue through Wednesday, with more disruptions anticipated.

Flights at Los Angeles International Airport are also being delayed or canceled due to the dangerous conditions.

Malibu schools were closed on Tuesday, and authorities warned residents to remain vigilant.

Though winds are expected to subside by Wednesday evening, forecasters predict their return by Friday.

Authorities urge residents to stay alert and be prepared for further evacuations as fire conditions remain critical.
