Actor Michael Rapaport voiced strong criticism of California Governor Gavin Newsom in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, accusing the Democrat of failing to adequately address the state’s wildfire crisis.

Rapaport’s remarks came as Southern California fires continued to burn thousands of homes, entering their second week.

The Only Murders in the Building star mocked Newsom for prioritizing political rhetoric over practical action, stating, “Gavin with the good hair Newsom, you’re talking about ‘Trump-proofing’ California when you should have been ‘fire-proofing’ the state. You’re talking about Trump this, Trump that. He’s not even president.”

Rapaport, who has previously criticized former President Donald Trump, also expressed frustration with Kamala Harris, saying she had lost his vote in the 2024 election due to her stance on Israel.

In his video, Rapaport didn’t hold back. “Get the f— out of here!” he exclaimed, addressing Newsom directly. He went on to mock the governor’s response to the fires, saying, “‘We’ll do better next time. We need to learn from our mistakes.’ You’re not running for sixth grade class president.”

Referring to Newsom as “Nancy’s nephew,” a nod to his familial ties to former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rapaport added, “What a good old boy you turned out to be, you little bulls— artist.”

Rapaport is not the only celebrity to speak out against Newsom during the ongoing wildfire crisis.

Last week, Justine Bateman went off on Newsom on Fox News with Jesse Watters.

In response to the criticism, Newsom’s director of communications, Izzy Gardon, defended the governor’s actions, emphasizing his commitment to addressing the crisis.

“Anyone who’s been through a tragedy knows there are lighthearted moments and moments of sorrow,” Gardon said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“The governor has witnessed himself on the ground in Los Angeles over the past three days, meeting countless firefighters, first responders, and victims of this tragedy.”

The statement further asserted, “The Governor is focused on protecting people, not playing politics, and making sure firefighters have all the resources they need.”

Since the fires began last Tuesday, both Newsom and local officials have faced mounting criticism over the state’s wildfire preparedness and response.

The devastation caused by the fires has highlighted longstanding concerns about California’s ability to handle such crises effectively.

Rapaport’s comments reflect growing frustration among residents and public figures alike as California continues to grapple with one of its most challenging wildfire seasons in recent memory.
