Erin Andrews, one of America’s most prominent sportscasters, has spent over two decades proving her worth in a field often rife with sexism. From being labeled with demeaning nicknames like “Sideline Barbie” to enduring harassment from athletes and fans, her journey has been anything but easy.

In 2016, Andrews was awarded $55 million in a lawsuit after a stalker secretly recorded her through a peephole in a Nashville hotel, leaving her with a mild case of PTSD. Yet, despite society’s supposed progress, Andrews still faces relentless criticism—especially on social media, as reported by Upworthy.

On the November 15 episode of her podcast, Calm Down, which she co-hosts with Charissa Thompson, Andrews opened up about the challenges of navigating constant harassment.

“They’re looking for you to get upset and defend yourself,” Thompson explained, adding that sometimes they respond to the barrage of negativity just to push back. Andrews echoed these sentiments, admitting the pressure can be overwhelming.

But Andrews isn’t one to let trolls have the last word.

On December 2, after an X user posted a dismissive comment suggesting it was time for Andrews, 46, to step aside for a “younger blonde/brunette,” she delivered a pitch-perfect retort.

“Don’t even think you need HD to see them. But appreciate you pointing them out bud!” she replied, referencing the user’s jab at her wrinkles.

The internet erupted with support for Andrews, with many noting the double standard between male and female sportscasters.

While older male broadcasters continue their careers without scrutiny, women in the industry often face ageism and misogyny.

Andrews’ response was praised for its humor and grace, with fans applauding her for standing her ground.

This wasn’t the first time Andrews turned an uncomfortable moment into an empowering one.

During a November game in Tampa Bay, a fan on X commented that Andrews was “out here with a glow!” Andrews, ever quick on her feet, clarified the situation.

“It’s full-blown sweat. In need of a shower,” she quipped, highlighting the sweltering heat on the sidelines that day.

However, when another user added a sexist remark about “hot flashes,” Andrews was less amused. “Shut up! It’s outside for five hours, enough!” she exclaimed on a later podcast episode.

Despite the ongoing harassment, Andrews’ talent and professionalism continue to outshine the noise. Fans consistently remind her that her career isn’t defined by her looks but by her exceptional skill as a reporter. Andrews, with her quick wit and no-nonsense attitude, has proven she’s here to stay—wrinkles and all.
