Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has been named chair of the newly formed subcommittee tasked with working alongside Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to eliminate wasteful spending and inefficiencies within the federal government.

The subcommittee, known as the Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) subcommittee, will be established under the House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer (R-KY).
The DOGE subcommittee is set to launch in January and will play a central role in coordinating with Musk and Ramaswamy, who were appointed by President-elect Donald Trump to head the federal efficiency initiative.

Their goal is to reduce bureaucratic overreach and return control of the federal government to elected officials, as Musk and Ramaswamy outlined in a recent op-ed for The Wall Street Journal.
Comer emphasized the subcommittee’s alignment with the Trump administration’s priorities. “DOGE will focus on eliminating government waste, streamlining federal operations, and cutting red tape that’s stifling jobs and increasing costs for the American people,” Comer told Fox News Digital. “I look forward to working with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy to deliver on these goals to Make America Great Again.”
Rep. Greene expressed enthusiasm about leading the subcommittee and outlined its mission in an interview with Fox News Digital. “I’m excited to chair this new subcommittee designed to work hand in hand with President Trump, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, and the entire DOGE team,” Greene said. “We will identify and investigate the waste, corruption, and absolutely useless parts of our federal government.”
Greene also highlighted the importance of transparency and public accountability, stating that the subcommittee would provide “truth to the American people through hearings” and that “no topic will be off the table.”

She specifically mentioned inefficiencies at the Pentagon, noting that officials responsible for the department’s repeated audit failures could face job losses. “Some bureaucrats will be getting a pink slip,” Greene added.

The creation of the DOGE subcommittee signals a shift in focus for the Oversight Committee, which has spent recent years investigating alleged corruption involving Joe Biden and his family.
With the new subcommittee, the committee’s attention will pivot toward addressing structural inefficiencies and waste across federal agencies.
Comer has already met with Ramaswamy and the incoming DOGE team to discuss priorities. A spokesperson for Ramaswamy expressed optimism about the collaboration, saying, “A key step to driving greater efficiency in government is exposing the problem to the public — we are grateful that the House Oversight Committee has created a subcommittee to focus on this work. We look forward to working together.”

President-elect Trump has described the goals of DOGE as ambitious and transformative. “Republican politicians have dreamed about the objectives of DOGE for a very long time,” Trump said, calling the initiative “the Manhattan Project of our time.”
The subcommittee will serve as a bridge between congressional oversight and the Trump administration’s broader effort to reform federal agencies.
Greene and Comer are expected to play key roles in advancing these objectives when the subcommittee begins its work in 2024.
