The Gaetz family’s political legacy took a new step forward as Don Gaetz secured his place in Florida’s State Senate, winning against Democrat Lisa Newell with all votes counted in Panhandle District 1.

As reported by Trending Politics News, Don, father of outspoken conservative Rep. His win adds another chapter to the Gaetz family’s firm hold on Florida politics, especially in the conservative stronghold known as “Floribama.”

Matt Gaetz, a close ally of former President Donald Trump, has represented Florida’s 1st District in the U.S. House since 2016, stepping into the role shortly after his father’s retirement.

This latest victory for Don Gaetz not only strengthens the family’s political dynasty but also reflects support from high-ranking Republicans like Senate President-Designate Ben Albritton, who openly praised Gaetz, Sr. for his dedication to conservative values.

“Don Gaetz is a statesman and a warrior for the cause of conservatism,” Albritton stated, acknowledging Gaetz’s steadfast commitment to the Panhandle.

In his victory speech, Don Gaetz vowed to focus on issues pressing for many Florida families, particularly seniors feeling the pinch of high living costs. “The Florida we love has become unaffordable for too many of our residents,” he declared. “I’ll work to hold insurance companies accountable, make housing more affordable, and bring down utility costs. I won’t rest until we have made Florida affordable again.”

Florida’s housing crisis and cost-of-living challenges have become key political battlegrounds, with Republicans like Gaetz finding increased support from voters frustrated by economic pressures.

The Florida Realtors Association, which endorsed Don Gaetz, also played a significant role in the successful campaigns of other Republicans, including Sen. Rick Scott, who easily defeated his Democratic opponent in the recent elections.

The issue, Gaetz emphasized, transcends party lines, warning that Florida could lose its appeal if these economic issues remain unresolved. “If we don’t fix them, Florida is going to be less and less of a place for people to prosper,” he told the Pensacola News Journal.

At the federal level, Rep. Matt Gaetz celebrated his re-election to the U.S. House, marking his fifth term and solidifying his standing as a conservative voice in Congress.

With the Republican majority anticipated to grow, Gaetz has aligned himself with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-FL) and continues to be a prominent figure in support of President Donald Trump. The Gaetz family’s influence appears secure, signaling a continued stronghold in both Florida’s state and national politics.
