Authorities have released preliminary details and body camera footage from a violent confrontation in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where a man allegedly stabbed a police officer before being shot by another officer.
The Connecticut Office of the Inspector General is leading the investigation into the incident, which took place early Saturday morning.
According to official reports, Bridgeport police officers responded to a call regarding an emotionally disturbed person at a residence on Terry Place around 1 a.m. on Saturday.
Officers Marie Cetti, Jesse Jimenez, Maria Canhassi, and Jahmaine Mercer were among those who arrived at the scene.

The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Huntley Jackson, was inside the home when police arrived and initially communicated with the officers from the front porch.
The situation quickly escalated when Jackson suddenly brandished a knife and ran toward Officer Cetti, stabbing her multiple times in the shoulder, head, and neck, according to a preliminary report by the Inspector General's Office.
Officer Jimenez responded by firing his service weapon twice, striking Jackson in the torso.
Both Officer Cetti and Jackson were immediately transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital for treatment.

Cetti was treated for her injuries and released shortly after. Jackson underwent surgery and remains in guarded but stable condition, according to the latest updates.
Following the incident, Jackson was charged with several serious offenses, including criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault, and assault on a public safety officer.
His bond was set at $750,000.
The release of body camera footage has provided additional insight into the events leading up to the stabbing and subsequent shooting.
The footage shows Jackson emerging from the house and attacking Officer Cetti with a knife. Officer Jimenez can be seen reacting swiftly, firing two shots that incapacitated Jackson.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with multiple agencies involved, including the Connecticut Office of the Inspector General, the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad, the Bridgeport Police Department, and the Bridgeport Judicial District State’s Attorney’s Office.

While Officer Cetti is recovering from her injuries, Jackson remains in the hospital under police custody.
