Republican vice-presidential nominee JD Vance is gearing up for a high-profile appearance in Austin, Texas, this Wednesday, where he’ll sit down in the famous studio of podcaster Joe Rogan.
Rogan, known for his no-holds-barred interviews and massive audience reach, has hosted everyone from comedians to politicians, creating a platform that dives deep into everything from current events to controversial topics.

In a new twist, Joe Rogan disclosed that Vice President Kamala Harris’s team reached out to set up an interview, but Rogan refused the restrictive terms.
According to Rogan, Harris’s team stipulated he’d have to travel to her, and they were only willing to allow a one-hour slot—a stark contrast to his typical long-form, relaxed interviews, as reported by The Daily Mail.

Rogan explained his decision on X (formerly Twitter) Monday night, saying, “I strongly feel the best way to do it is in the studio in Austin. My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a human being. I really hope we can make it happen.”

This move comes on the heels of Rogan’s recent three-hour sit-down with Donald Trump, which drew an impressive 17 million YouTube views within the first 24 hours.
In a time when liberals are pushing for Harris to appeal to younger voters, her team might have hoped Rogan’s platform, largely composed of younger male listeners, would have served her well. However, the setup didn't sit well with Rogan, known for his no-frills, lengthy discussions, which he claims are best held in his Austin studio.

In comparison, Harris’s recent appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast brought in a modest 685,000 views over two weeks.
Kamala traveled to the sex podcast, Charlemagne, but is too scared to speak for more than an hour without getting the questions in advance. She’s too stupid for Rogan. She’s afraid and incompetent.

With Trump’s numbers surging, many left-leaning supporters are encouraging Harris to sit down with Rogan. Some even claim Trump gained in polling after his appearance, despite its unstructured and occasionally offbeat style.
During Trump’s interview, Rogan floated the possibility of Harris joining him on his podcast. Trump’s response was less than complimentary, jokingly predicting, “She’d be laying on the floor comatose. She’d be saying, ‘Call in the medics.’”

Despite the humor, Rogan emphasized he genuinely hopes to speak with Harris in a personal, non-political way, saying his goal was to simply get to know her as a person.
Both Harris and Trump have embraced non-traditional media platforms to connect with broader audiences, but recent numbers suggest Trump is succeeding with these tactics more effectively.
Democrats now worry he’s outpacing Harris in reaching the influential young male demographic—a group where she lags behind, according to recent polls. A USA Today/Suffolk poll shows Trump leading among men 53% to 37%, while Harris maintains a 53% to 36% lead with women.
As the most popular podcast on Spotify, "The Joe Rogan Experience" attracts over 14 million subscribers and routinely amasses millions of views. The appeal to his largely male, under-35 listenership gives him a powerful platform.
Whether Harris will seize the chance to join him remains uncertain, but Rogan's stance on keeping the interview authentic in Austin may ultimately determine if they ever meet on his show.
