A recent call into C-SPAN’s morning show highlighted concerns over media bias, with a viewer frustrated by what he perceived as the disproportionate coverage of former President Donald Trump while serious allegations against Doug Emhoff, the husband of Kamala Harris, were largely ignored.

The caller pointed to a recent report from the *Daily Mail*, which alleged that Emhoff slapped an ex-girlfriend during a trip to the Cannes Film Festival in France in 2012.

Despite the gravity of the accusations, the caller criticized the media for focusing heavily on Trump-related stories and neglecting to report on the scandal involving Emhoff.

“The first thing you guys talk about was usually supposed to be the top story, but today was all about Trump,” the caller said. “That’s all we hear about Trump and how bad Trump is. So what I wanted to ask is, are you going to talk about… the first gentleman, Doug Ammerhoff, what he’s doing, what they’re exposing him for his, he got a nanny pregnant.”

According to the *Daily Mail* report, Emhoff’s ex-girlfriend, referred to as “Jane,” accused him of becoming physically aggressive after a disagreement during their trip to France. Jane’s claims were reportedly supported by three friends, who said Emhoff’s outburst was fueled by jealousy after Jane spoke with a valet. Jane ended the relationship that night, according to the report.

While the allegations have gained attention in conservative media outlets like the *Washington Times*, they have largely been absent from mainstream news coverage.

This has sparked questions among critics about media bias and selective reporting.

The *Daily Mail* report also included additional explosive claims from Jane’s friends, who allege that Emhoff confessed to impregnating his children’s nanny and later paid $80,000 as part of a non-disclosure agreement. They also accused him of being responsible for the nanny’s miscarriage. Emhoff has denied these allegations, and a spokesperson for him labeled the claims as “untrue” and “false.”

Emhoff, who has been an advocate for women’s rights and an outspoken critic of toxic masculinity, faces potential damage to his public image following these accusations.

In past interviews, Emhoff has emphasized the importance of supporting women, telling MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, “To me, it’s the right thing to do.”

However, the latest allegations stand in stark contrast to the image he has cultivated.

The scandal comes at a critical time, as the 2024 presidential election draws closer.

Kamala Harris, who has not yet commented on the allegations against her husband, may soon face questions about his past.

The case has fueled ongoing debates about whether the media applies the same level of scrutiny to Democrats as it does to Republicans, with critics accusing the press of downplaying or ignoring stories that could hurt prominent figures on the left.

As the story continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether mainstream media outlets will address the allegations more thoroughly or whether the accusations against Emhoff will be swept under the rug amid the intense political climate leading up to the 2024 election.
