A Florida man who made alarming threats against high-profile Republicans Donald Trump and JD Vance has found himself back in legal hot water just days after being released from house arrest.

Michael Martin Wiseman, a 68-year-old from Jupiter, Florida, was first arrested in July on charges related to death threats posted on social media. His release on September 17, after agreeing to a pretrial intervention, was short-lived as prosecutors reinstated charges, citing written threats to kill, as reported by Fox News [1].

Wiseman’s threats followed an attempted assassination of Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, which resulted in a minor injury to the former president. The situation escalated when, on September 15, Ryan Routh was arrested [4] for plotting to kill Trump at his golf course in Palm Beach County—just miles from Wiseman’s residence and near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property. This proximity, along with Wiseman’s online activity, set off alarm bells for authorities.

According to police, Wiseman posted messages such as “Trump and Vance should be murdered before turning us in to West Russia” and “READY, AIM, FIRE. RINSE AND REPEAT.” One post even depicted Trump’s face in the crosshairs of a sniper rifle. Law enforcement was alerted through online crime tips and concerned residents in Jupiter, which prompted an investigation into Wiseman’s social media accounts.

Court records reveal that Wiseman initially agreed to a pretrial intervention that included admitting guilt to these disturbing posts. This program could have allowed the case to be dismissed, but after reviewing the evidence, both the prosecution and defense agreed to reactivate the case.
