Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter, now X, in 2022 has not been short of controversial.

The decision to rename the social media platform is a fine example; Musk’s supporters praise his improvement of the site, while his fiercest critics – if they haven’t already left – long for the days where San Francisco liberals ran the site. Undeniably, though, one of the better additions has been community notes. In short, the notes allow users to add context to any post which may benefit others. Politicians, unexpected, are not the biggest fans…

Nor are media outlets, either. Clickbait journalism and questionable claims are no longer exempt from a contextual background check for all to see. Politico is no exception, which recently tried to put JD Vance on blast for linking Kamala Harris to Joe Biden, the woman who she serves as Vice President for.

The outlet published a story with the widely ridiculed headline “Vance tries to tether Harris to Biden during Michigan rally.”

Here's What They're Not Telling You About Your Retirement

Echoing other mainstream media outlets trying to distance the Vice President from the President, Politico implied that Republican running mate J.D. Vance’s comments were apparently nothing more than speculation.

They, too, were community noted, with it hilariously reading “Harris is currently President Biden’s Vice President.”

Days before Politico ran their article, user @ebeth360 made a satirical post of a fake “False” rating from PolitiFact, purporting to rate the claim that Harris is Biden’s VP as “false.” The joke being that the so-called “fact checkers” are willing to bend reality to defend the left. Her post was a joke, but it only took days to become reality in the form of that Politico article.
