Early Monday morning, four individuals were fatally shot on a CTA Blue Line train at the Forest Park station, located at 711 Desplaines Avenue, Forest Park police reported.

The call reporting the shootings was made at approximately 5:27 a.m., initially indicating that three people had been shot.

Upon their arrival, responding officers discovered four victims at the scene; three were pronounced dead at the location, and the fourth succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to Loyola University Medical Center.

In the aftermath of the shooting, the suspect fled the scene, leading to an immediate search and swift police action.

Utilizing descriptions from surveillance footage, law enforcement successfully apprehended a suspect aboard a CTA Pink Line train in Chicago. A firearm was also recovered during the arrest.

"As soon as this matter was reported, CTA immediately deployed resources to assist the Forest Park Police in their investigation into the matter, including review of all possible security camera footage, which proved to be vital in aiding local enforcement."

The transit authority also commended the quick and efficient actions of both the Forest Park and Chicago Police Departments. "We commend both the Forest Park Police Department for their thorough and collaborative efforts to provide information to partner agencies; as well as the Chicago Police Department whose quick actions led to the apprehension of a suspect in this matter," the statement continued.
