SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly took aim at Kamala Harris during her recent show, criticizing Harris for her comments in an interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle.

The focus of Kelly’s critique was Harris’ repeated references to her “middle-class” upbringing while discussing her economic plan for the upcoming election.

During the interview with Ruhle, Harris emphasized how her mother “raised” her and her sister in a “middle-class” household.

Kelly expressed frustration with the vice president’s remarks, urging her to stop focusing on her personal family history and address the economic struggles that Americans are currently facing.

“Then she finishes it off with — we didn’t play this — but, ‘I come from the middle-class. My mother raised my sister and me, she worked hard.’ No one gives a shit about your mother, they care about themselves. Stop talking about your mother [and] start talking about the people who are actually suffering,” Kelly said.

Kelly further criticized Harris for failing to provide concrete solutions to pressing economic issues. “So the only thing she said in the whole answer, and this was at the very end, was, ‘So my vision for the economy is let’s deal with some of the everyday challenges that people face and address them with common sense solutions,’” Kelly noted, questioning the substance behind Harris’ remarks.

Harris briefly mentioned affordable housing during the interview, suggesting a $25,000 tax break for first-time home buyers as part of her economic plan.

Kelly was quick to point out that this measure seemed limited in scope, saying, “If you’ve already owned a home you’re effed. If you’re struggling to pay your mortgage, but it happens to be your second home you’re effed. That’s it. And then she wants to somehow create more houses — we don’t know how.”

Harris has frequently discussed her middle-class upbringing when outlining her plans for addressing economic challenges.

However, Kelly’s critique focused on the perceived lack of detailed solutions for those currently suffering under economic strain.

In a similar interview with Philadelphia’s 6ABC Action News earlier in September, Harris again mentioned her middle-class background while attempting to address concerns about making life more affordable for Americans.

Kelly’s sharp critique of Harris comes at a time when the economy is a top concern for voters ahead of the 2024 election.

Many Americans are grappling with rising costs, inflation, and housing challenges, and Kelly argued that Harris’ rhetoric fails to resonate with those directly impacted.

With the election season heating up, Harris will likely continue to face scrutiny over her economic policies and how effectively she communicates them to voters.
