White House national security spokesman John Kirby found himself in hot water after an email mishap on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

According to Fox News, Kirby unintentionally sent an email to a Fox News reporter in which he trashed a group of veterans criticizing the Biden administration’s disastrous 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.

In what seems to be a classic case of "reply all," Kirby responded to an email query from Fox News about the veterans’ criticisms.

Breitbart reported that the email was meant for White House staffers but included Fox News Digital in the chain. Kirby’s response: “Obviously no use in responding. A ‘handful’ of vets indeed and all of one stripe.”

The inquiry came after four veterans, including Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.), slammed Kirby for his Monday press conference, accusing him of running cover for the Biden administration’s chaotic and deadly exit from Afghanistan.

Kirby’s dismissive email wasn’t just a technical error; it perfectly exemplified the administration’s tone-deaf response to those directly impacted by its blunders.

In typical fashion, Kirby later tried to clean up the mess, telling Fox News, “Clearly, I didn’t realize you were on the chain.” While traveling with President Biden on the 9/11 anniversary, he sent the email, only adding to the tone-deafness of the situation.

During Monday’s press conference, Kirby attempted to shift the blame for the Afghanistan withdrawal onto former President Donald Trump, a tactic often employed by this administration. Kirby conveniently forgot to mention that the Taliban talks actually began under the Obama administration in 2013, years before Trump entered the scene.

Kirby, a retired Rear Admiral and former Pentagon spokesman was at the forefront during the 2021 withdrawal. It was under his watch that 13 U.S. service members were tragically killed in a terror attack at Abbey Gate in Kabul.

Rep. Mills didn’t hold back in the aftermath, blasting Kirby for his weak attempts at deflecting blame. “The Biden-Harris administration chose politics over strategy, and Kirby, who I wouldn’t trust to guard my grocery list, is now trying to cover for them,” Mills said, as reported by Just the News.

Mills’ frustrations are shared by many who see the administration’s handling of Afghanistan as a complete disaster.

Despite the backlash, Kirby stood firm on his remarks from the press briefing. He claimed the House Republican report criticizing the administration was “cherry-picked and selective”. However, he reiterated his stance, stating, “America’s longest war is over, and those still serving are better positioned to meet the threats we face today.”
