In a fiery monologue on NewsNation, anchor Chris Cuomo called out the media’s apparent indifference to the second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.
On Monday, Cuomo blasted media and political figures for failing to react appropriately to the latest incident in which an armed man tried to target Trump while he was golfing in West Palm Beach, Florida.
As reported by The Hill [2], Cuomo pointed out the double standard that would have likely unfolded if someone else had been the target. “What if it was your father? Or Kamala Harris? Or President Biden? God forbid,” he asked. “Do you think that it would be almost a shoulder shrug and more of talk about the Secret Service and allocation of funds, than just, how crazy it is that this is what’s happening in our country?”
I was listening to @ChrisCuomo [3] the first time. Emotional speech but he was still criticizing CIC Trump. He still thinks people eating cats and dogs is a fake shorty. He thinks Kamala is not communist and he does not like Trumps policies. He made sure he did not lose his followers pic.twitter.com/qJ7lrfA75w [4]

The former CNN host expressed outrage over those who downplayed the seriousness of the attack. “He had an AK-47 pointed at him,” Cuomo said, his frustration growing as he dismissed the excuses some made. He lambasted the media and political elites, criticizing their lack of urgency in responding to what should have caused widespread alarm.

Cuomo also took issue with figures like Elon Musk, who posted a tasteless “joke” about Biden and Harris that was quickly deleted. Cuomo didn’t hold back: “Elon Musk could be leading the way to a better dialog in our society. I don’t know why he’s undercutting his own significance with these cheap shots. I want to work with him. I believe in his platform. I believe in him, but not in what he’s doing.”
