Cringe Olympics Gold Medal: Dem Rep Lets Gen Z Staffers Write The Script [WATCH]

Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., recently released a video that has sparked widespread criticism and mockery online, with many calling it one of the most cringe-worthy political videos they’ve seen.

May 17, 2022; Washington, DC, USA; House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Rosa DeLauro speak to one another as Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. addresses the baby formula shortage during a press conference at the US Capitol. The baby formula shortage began in November 2021, when about 11% of popular brands were out of stock, according to data analytics firm Datasembly. As of May 8, 43% of baby formula was sold out at retailers across the U.S. because of recalls and supply chain strains. Mandatory Credit: Josh Morgan-USA TODAY NETWORK

The video, posted with the caption “Letting my GenZ staff write the script,” quickly went viral due to its heavy use of internet slang and meme culture, leaving many viewers bewildered.

The video begins with DeLauro introducing herself as “the Ranking Rizzler on Appropriations, serving Connecticut’s 3rd District.”

She then tells viewers, “It’s time to enter your dark academia Congress era. Alright besties, House Appropriations is the money moves in Congress. We are not chasing the bag, we ARE the bag.”

In an apparent attempt to connect with younger audiences, the congresswoman continues, “Democrats are making life smoother through government funding. It’s giving skibbidi.”

She then adds, “Sooooo Sigma main character energy, but Republicans Project 2025 is mad sus. Eliminating the Department of Education? Negative aura points.”

The video doesn’t stop there. DeLauro goes on to describe Republican plans as “the biggest fanum tax on the environment, on your education, and your rights,” before sarcastically adding, “Big L posting it online, buddy.”

She concludes with, “Democrats understood the assignment, but go off. See how I keep you informed? Very cutesy. Very demure.”

The reaction to the video was swift and overwhelmingly negative, particularly on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

Users expressed their confusion, frustration, and outright embarrassment for DeLauro.

Many were baffled by the language used, which seemed like an awkward attempt to appeal to Gen Z audiences through the use of internet slang and viral trends.

Users on X didn’t hold back their criticism of the purple-haired Democrat from Connecticut.
