The streets of Roosevelt Avenue in Queens, which includes neighborhoods like Corona, Jackson Heights, and Elmhurst, have become a hub for brazen sex solicitation.

Migrant prostitutes line the blocks, soliciting openly, while pimps maintain control over the area, leaving local business owners in fear.

One local shopkeeper, who spoke with Fox News, shared his concerns and revealed he had been threatened for speaking out.

Roosevelt Avenue, once a vital commercial strip, now resembles a red-light district with dozens of alleged sex workers occupying the sidewalks.

A recent Fox News report recorded as many as 19 alleged prostitutes on a single block, with others in nearby areas. Local residents report seeing sex workers daily as they go about their routines, with children passing them on their way to school.

Business owners in the area have expressed frustration, saying that illegal vendors selling food and goods have overtaken the sidewalks, undercutting their prices while avoiding the taxes and regulations faced by legitimate businesses.

On Sept. 18, the NYPD raided a brothel just off Roosevelt Avenue, resulting in three arrests.

However, the following day, Fox News captured footage of alleged sex workers and clients continuing to operate in the same area.

Local resident and activist Ramses Frías, who has lived in the area his entire life, expressed outrage at the conditions, likening them to “Bangkok with women outside locations pulling men off the street.”

He added that the area has been overwhelmed with prostitution and other illegal activities, contributing to the declining quality of life for the community.

Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels and a former mayoral candidate, said the problem worsened after prostitutes were pushed out of nearby Flushing.

He accused city leaders, including Mayor Eric Adams and the NYPD, of not doing enough to address the growing issue.

Sliwa criticized a raid in January, which, despite involving Mayor Adams and local City Council member Francisco Moya, resulted in no arrests and failed to make any lasting impact on the problem.

Sliwa and Frías both pointed out that elected officials, including Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, have largely been absent from the community.

Frías noted that Ocasio-Cortez campaigned heavily in the area but has not been seen addressing the growing crisis. Residents, feeling abandoned, plan to organize a rally on Sept. 29 to demand action from the city.

Local officials, including Moya and state Sen. Jessica Ramos, have weighed in on the issue.

Ramos, who previously supported decriminalizing sex work, acknowledged the raid but placed blame on the mayor’s office for its lack of sustained effort.

Moya, who has lived in the district his entire life, said the problem has worsened since the influx of migrants.

He expressed frustration with some elected officials who have called for a halt to enforcement, adding that he would continue to push for significant changes to restore the community.

As the situation persists, Roosevelt Avenue remains a flashpoint of lawlessness, with residents and business owners growing increasingly concerned for the future of their neighborhood.
