In the early hours of Wednesday, chaos erupted on the Virginia State University campus as four individuals were shot, prompting a swift response from Chesterfield County Police. The incident took place around 12:30 a.m. on Boisseau Street, and while the victims sustained injuries, all are expected to survive, according to police reports, as reported by CBS 6 News.

Authorities quickly descended upon the scene, discovering the victims and beginning their investigation. Interestingly, none of the victims are current students at VSU for the fall 2024 semester, as confirmed by a Chesterfield Police spokesperson. Additionally, despite some rumors, no officers fired their weapons during the incident.

Police have already identified several suspects, and charges are reportedly pending. The Ettrick campus was put on lockdown immediately following the shooting but reopened about five hours later. “There is no further threat to the VSU community in relation to this incident,” police assured in a statement.

Witnesses at the scene described a heavy police presence, with officers cordoning off the parking lot near Daniel Gymnasium. Crime scene investigators were seen meticulously gathering evidence into paper bags well into the morning hours.
