Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations-West Bureau’s Special Assault Section is seeking more victims and witnesses in an ongoing investigation involving Gabriel Olds, a 52-year-old Los Angeles resident and actor.

On January 19, 2023, a 41-year-old woman reported that Olds raped her at her Los Angeles home.

Following her report, two more victims came forward with similar allegations dating back to 2013, claiming that Olds turned consensual dating encounters into violent sexual assaults.

Originally from New York and a Yale University graduate, Olds has a career in acting and screenwriting that began in the early 1990s.

Investigators revealed that Olds used his Ivy League background and film industry success to lure women, including those he met via dating apps, into dating situations.

According to reports, Olds initially appeared charming but then became violent without consent.

Detectives have identified three women who were assaulted by Olds and two additional women who reported lesser violent conduct.

Given Olds’s travel schedule, investigators believe there may be more victims nationwide.

Detective Brent Hopkins, a Special Assault Section supervisor, said, “We heard the same story again and again. Mr. Olds started off charming, but then used brutal violence to carry out these rapes. Some of these survivors suffered in silence for years before finding the strength to speak up. Now that he’s off the streets, we want to make sure everyone has a chance to be heard.”

Anyone with information that could help identify additional victims or witnesses is urged to contact LAPD’s Operations-West Bureau, Special Assault Section.
