Police in Pomona have released a 911 call and bodycam footage of a shooting in which an alleged armed man was shot and killed by police on June 26.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:57 pm after officers received a call about a man carrying a gun at a motel on Holt Avenue.

According to the Pomona Police Department, the suspect fled the scene and proceeded to pull out his own firearm, prompting officers to open fire at the intersection of Hamilton Boulevard and Center Street.

Investigators believe that the suspect had fired directly at the officers, which prompted them to return fire.

Footage from the scene shows numerous bullet holes on a vehicle and a shattered driver's seat window.

The suspect was taken to the hospital immediately after the shooting but succumbed to his injuries.

None of the officers involved in the incident were reported injured. By all indications, officers managed to recover a gun at the scene.

The incident is currently being investigated by the local police department.
