Initially, the entry gate to the training annex was closed, and traffic was diverted to an alternate entry point north on Ray Ellison Boulevard. However, normal operations and access were reinstated by 10 a.m.

While JBSA initially labeled the individuals as “active shooters,” the San Antonio Police Department refrained from categorizing the event as an active-shooter situation, indicating a difference in the interpretation of the incident.

As of now, it remains unclear whether the matter is under investigation by military authorities or the San Antonio Police Department, as no additional information has been made available at this time.
