Tayla Brailey, a 30-year-old teacher at Lurnea High in Australia, has been arrested [1] and charged with sexual offenses after it was alleged that she engaged in sexual intercourse with a student in the back of her car.
According to court documents, Brailey was taken into custody at the southwest Sydney school where she works.
It was reported that she broke down and became hysterical upon realizing the seriousness of the situation, expressing concern about her family, job, and future.
The court proceedings revealed new details about Brailey’s alleged misconduct towards the 17-year-old student.
Accusations include her sending explicit videos of herself masturbating to the student and purchasing the morning-after pill following an alleged sexual encounter.
The alleged relationship began when the student added Brailey on Snapchat, and the two began exchanging messages.
This eventually led to the teacher inviting the teen to her home, where she is accused of engaging in sexual activities with him. Another encounter allegedly occurred off-site in her car.
Brailey is also accused of contacting the student later to confirm that he had not disclosed their encounters, and it was reported that the student felt compelled to send explicit images to keep her satisfied.
While there are no charges relating to other children at this time, the investigations are ongoing.
Brailey, who was married in 2023, has been suspended without pay, and her bail conditions include reporting to the police regularly, surrendering her passport, and refraining from using social media.
The Department of Education emphasized its commitment to the safety and welfare of students and confirmed that Brailey had been suspended as the legal process unfolds.
