James Singer, a spokesperson for Harris’s presidential campaign, didn’t miss the opportunity to blame Trump for past and potential future economic woes. “Donald Trump failed Americans as president, costing our economy millions of jobs, and bringing us to the brink of recession,” Singer stated. He further accused Trump of plotting more harm with his “Project 2025” agenda, which he claimed would “decimate the middle class and increase taxes on working families,” alongside other severe impacts.

This blame game comes as new data revealed the unemployment rate had risen to 4.3 percent, with July’s job growth falling short of expectations.

Only 114,000 jobs were added, a stark underperformance compared to the 180,000 jobs economists had anticipated.

According to Breitbart News Economics Editor John Carney, this uptick in unemployment could be a forewarning of a looming recession, referencing the “Sahm Rule,” a historical indicator of economic downturns.

Adding to the economic discourse, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell acknowledged the concern on Wednesday, noting that while the Sahm rule often precedes a recession, it’s not an absolute predictor of one.
