On “Fox News Sunday,” Donald Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, sharply criticized Kamala Harris’ approach to handling inflation, drawing an analogy to deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Vance argued that Harris’ involvement in inflation policy is as misplaced as putting Epstein in charge of human trafficking regulations.

Vance’s remarks came amid a shift in polling dynamics, where Harris has gained traction as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

Despite this, Vance contends that Harris’s proposals, which he describes as “more of the same” failed policies, will not convince voters of a fresh start.

“First of all, the polls tend to radically overstate Democrats. We certainly saw that during the polling of summer 2020 and summer 2016, and many of those polls were inaccurate on Election Day,” Vance said during his appearance.

He added that internal data suggests Harris’s recent boost in popularity has already plateaued.

The senator expressed skepticism about Harris’ ability to address inflation effectively, citing her three and a half years as Vice President and the continued public disapproval of Joe Biden’s administration.

Vance noted, “If you talk to insiders in the Kamala Harris campaign, they’re very worried about where they are because the American people just don’t buy the idea that Kamala Harris, who has been vice president for three and a half years, is somehow going to tackle the inflation crisis in a way tomorrow that she hasn’t for the past 1,300 days.”

Vance’s comparison drew criticism from some quarters but highlighted his belief that Harris represents a continuation of unsuccessful policies rather than a new direction. “Giving Kamala Harris control over inflation policy,” Vance argued, “is like giving Jeffrey Epstein control over human trafficking policy. The American people are much smarter than that. They don’t buy the idea that Kamala Harris represents a fresh start. She is more of the same.”

The criticism follows Harris’ recent economic proposals unveiled in a speech in North Carolina, which have faced backlash from commentators who view them as unrealistic.

These proposals include a federal ban on “corporate price gouging” in food and grocery stores. Despite this criticism and the absence of a comprehensive policy platform on her campaign website, Harris allegedly leads former President Donald Trump in the polls.

According to the latest ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll, Harris holds a six-point lead over Trump, with 51% support from likely voters compared to Trump’s 45%. Among registered voters, Harris’ lead narrows to 49% versus Trump’s 45%.

However, the same poll indicates that voters remain skeptical of Harris on key issues such as the economy, inflation, and immigration. Trump leads Harris by nine points on handling the economy and inflation and by ten points on managing the U.S.-Mexico border.
