A devastating incident unfolded in Lake County, Florida, when a courageous sheriff's deputy lost their life, and two others sustained injuries in what the sheriff described as a deliberate "ambush" at a residence in Eustis.

Lake County Sheriff Peyton C. Grinnell detailed the harrowing events at a news conference early Saturday. "They were ambushed," Grinnell stated somberly. "We lost one tonight."

The first deputy to step into the home was immediately shot and became trapped inside, ultimately succumbing to his injuries.
In a desperate attempt to rescue their colleague, two other deputies were shot; one suffered wounds to the armpit and stomach and is now in critical condition, while the other was hit in the shoulder and is reported to be stable.

. “Ambushed”? Not likely. I would not find anyone guilty of a crime without video evidence of the cop ‘not’ disregarding this individuals constitutional rights. When cops show up to a ‘suspected’ domestic disturbance they have a habit of invading the dwelling uninvited without a clear reason other than a phone call. I expect that you have never been in uniform and have a negative view of law enforcement. To say an officer who was killed by a criminal got what was coming to him is an insult to all the decent, fair and brave men and women in any uniform. Cowardice talk from someone who may get what’s coming to him when a criminal invades your home, or workplace with a weapon and you need response from police. Yes, it was an ambush as anyone who waited to get the facts would know. The officers did not rush into the house, they were invited.
