Lawmakers in California are considering a measure that could make the state the first in the nation to offer home loans to illegal aliens.
The proposal, which is expected to pass in the Democratic-controlled state legislature this week, would allow illegal aliens to qualify for the “California Dream for All” loan program.
This state-funded initiative provides first-time homebuyers with 20% in down payment assistance, up to $150,000.
California also passed a bill providing free medical care to illegals that took effect n January this year.

The program has specific eligibility criteria. Participants must be first-time homebuyers, with at least one member of the household being a first-generation homebuyer.
Additionally, income levels must fall below certain limits that vary by county.
This measure arrives at a time when immigration remains a key issue in the national political landscape, particularly in the run-up to the upcoming election.
California Governor Gavin Newsom, a prominent supporter of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, has yet to indicate whether he will sign the bill if it passes the legislature.

The deadline for him to act on the bill is August 31. When reached for comment, a spokesperson for Governor Newsom told Fox News Digital, “The Governor doesn’t typically comment on pending legislation. If the bill reaches his desk, the Governor will evaluate it on its merits.”

On the opposing side, the Trump campaign has voiced strong criticism of the bill.
Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, described the legislation as “fundamentally unfair but typical Democrat policy.” The campaign’s opposition underscores the broader national debate over immigration and state-supported benefits for illegal aliens.
Democratic lawmakers in California have defended the proposed legislation. They argue that it aims to extend the same benefits to illegal alien residents that are available to other state residents.
During a June hearing on the bill, Democratic Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes stated, “It isn’t given out willy-nilly to just anybody.”
The bill’s author, Democratic Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula, has emphasized that applicants would still need to meet federal requirements to qualify for the loan program.
These requirements include having a taxpayer identification number or Social Security number.
Arambula noted that a federal law currently prevents undocumented immigrants from receiving state benefits unless a specific state law explicitly allows it.

“We simply wanted to be as inclusive as possible within our policies so that all who are paying taxes here in our state were able to qualify,” Arambula explained to POLITICO. “Without the intentional law that we are introducing, we felt that there were complexities and questions that many in the immigrant community would have.”

When Fox News Digital asked if the Trump campaign’s position on the legislation had changed in light of Arambula’s explanation, Leavitt responded simply, “no.”
As the California legislature moves closer to potentially passing this bill, all eyes will be on Governor Newsom to see if he will endorse a measure that could set a new precedent in the intersection of state benefits and immigration policy.

I would suggest that the California politicos that suggest this mortgage give away to illegal aliens are out of their minds. However at some level, they must be aware of this and don’t really care – its not their money! You need to get rid of everyone supporting this idea. Its a losing proposition and will cost honest taxpayers millions. I’m sure a like amount of money could be used to support housing initiatives for American citizens – or is that too crazy of an idea for California to consider.
Where are they going to get the tax money for this? California is already going broke because so many businesses and individuals have left the state that their tax revenues are in steep decline. ‘The problem with Socialism is that, sooner or later, you run out of other people’s money’ — former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
