On a recent episode of The Dan Bongino Show, Dan Bongino and Greg Gutfeld dissected the tendency of liberals to embrace extreme views while rejecting common-sense positions. Their conversation highlighted how unchecked compassion and empathy among liberals can lead to the endorsement of radical ideas.

Bongino praised Gutfeld’s remarks on The Five, noting, “Gutfeld has just been tearing it up lately on The Five. I know Greg, but I haven’t spoken about this at all. I promise you, he doesn’t like send me clips behind the scenes or anything like that. I’ve known Greg a while, and the one thing about Gutfeld is when his bullshit meter is pegged, you can tell on The Five.”

He continued, “In this clip, he’s telling Jessica something that should be obvious to you. Liberal nut bags, you were supporting stuff that mainstream American parents, workers, people with dirt in the fingernails think is ridiculous. You can continue to fight for it, but we’re laughing at you the entire time.”

In the clip, Gutfeld criticized liberals for extending their empathy to those who exploit innocent citizens. “So liberals, in the very best sense, are the party of empathy and compassion. The problem is they extend that benefit to people who prey upon innocent citizens. That is their problem,” Gutfeld said.

He questioned why liberals feel the need to defend radical positions such as “rioters and looters” and “surgical transitions for children,” suggesting these should not be defended as part of liberal ideology. “You don’t have to sit here and defend tampons for boys. You could just say, ‘You know what? There’s nothing liberal about that,’” Gutfeld added.

Bongino agreed with Gutfeld’s analysis, emphasizing the failure of liberals to distance themselves from extreme views. “The issue is they are incapable of rejecting their crazy people. They are absolutely incapable of rejecting their crazy people, because it’s the source of their power,” Bongino stated.

He compared conservatism to liberalism, noting, “The conservative club requires no leap in craziness at all. Well, what do you believe in to be a conservative, to join the Club? There’s a sign on the door. Check these boxes. We believe in the lowest taxes possible so we can have a growing economy. Okay, that’s not crazy; Americans should be able to pick where their kids go to school. Check that don’t sound crazy. We should probably not be killing a bunch of kids and a woman. That sounds good to me. We believe in the nuclear family and independence as the source of power, not the government. That sounds good. We believe in a strong military, a good court system, and basically limited government. There’s nothing crazy about it. Everything liberals believe in is the opposite of that.”

Bongino asserted that these conservative principles are straightforward and non-radical, contrasting them with the more extreme and contradictory positions that liberals are often forced to defend.
