In Brooklyn, a man shot and wounded an attempted robber in a case of self-defense on Sunday, as reported by the police.
The incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. outside 721 Snediker Ave. in East New York.
Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement found 19-year-old Ryan Straker with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Emergency Medical Services transported Straker to Brookdale Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
According to the police, the altercation involved an attempted robbery, and the subsequent shooting was an act of self-defense.
It was revealed that during the confrontation, a firearm was brandished, resulting in a struggle that culminated in the discharge of the weapon.

At present, no charges have been pressed against the individual who defended himself. Local residents, speaking to PIX11, suggested that the gunman might be a retired city correction officer.
