Upon receiving the report from Wasatch County dispatch, Summit County deputies rushed to the area to locate the wrong-way driver. One deputy spotted the vehicle continuing in the wrong direction in the left lane of the eastbound travel lane. The deputy positioned his own car in the path of the oncoming truck, resulting in a head-on collision that brought the wrong-way driver to a stop.
Following the incident, the deputy was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and has since been released. The wrong-way driver reportedly did not sustain any injuries.
The accident was reportedly partly caused by a medical emergency related to the driver’s low blood sugar level.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office praised the deputy’s quick response and courageous intervention in preventing a potentially dangerous situation on the road.
