Former President Donald Trump, known for his knack for branding political opponents with catchy monikers, has shifted his attention to Vice President Kamala Harris. This move comes as Harris is being floated as a potential replacement for President Joe Biden on the 2024 ticket following his disastrous debate performance that sent shockwaves through the Democratic Party and left him struggling in the polls.

Trump, famous for nicknaming adversaries like "Low Energy Jeb" (Bush) and "Crooked Hillary" (Clinton), has already labeled Biden as "Slow Joe," "Sleepy Joe," and "Crooked Joe," among other epithets. Now, after witnessing Biden's lackluster debate display, the former president is directing his newly coined nickname for Harris.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump unleashed his latest verbal jab, referring to Harris as "Laffin’ Kamala Harris" while mockingly congratulating her. He drew attention to her unimpressive performance during the Democratic primary process, reminding his followers that Harris started as the number two contender but soon found herself retreating from the race before the Iowa caucuses. Nevertheless, Trump sarcastically acknowledged her as a "highly talented" politician.

This tongue-in-cheek assault on Harris followed a Trump campaign statement accusing Democrats and the media of orchestrating a cover-up to conceal Biden's alleged mental decline. The statement specifically called out Harris as "Cackling Copilot Kamala Harris," emphasizing the alleged complicity of those who spoke favorably of Biden's cognitive state while supporting his controversial policies in the past four years.

A recent national poll conducted by CNN indicates that Harris performs slightly better than Biden when pitted against Trump. The poll suggests that her relatively stronger performance may be attributed, in part, to the broader support she enjoys from women, with 50% of female voters favoring Harris over Trump compared to 44% supporting Biden in the same matchup. Additionally, Harris has garnered a higher level of backing from independent voters, with 43% supporting her against Trump versus 34% for Biden.

Biden, the oldest president in American history at 81 years old, finds himself facing one of the most challenging phases of his campaign for a second term. Despite the mounting pressure and concerns, his campaign vehemently denies any intentions of dropping out of the race. During an Independence Day event, when a supporter shouted encouragement, urging him to "keep up the fight," Biden responded, assuring his supporters that he is determined to continue his pursuit of the presidency.

Many on social media took the opportunity to recall some moments from Kamala Harris's past in the wake of Trump's new nickname for her.
