The suspect, angered by an incorrect pizza order, entered the restaurant, shouted at an employee, pulled out a gun, and pistol-whipped the worker before fleeing the scene. HCSO detectives have obtained surveillance footage of the incident.
The suspect’s vehicle was discovered on Italian Cypress Trail by a 28-year-old undercover deputy. Investigators suggest the deputy might have experienced radio issues but was on the phone with another deputy at the time of the ambush.
When additional officers arrived, they found the deputy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and their vehicle riddled with bullets. Despite being rushed to LBJ Hospital, the deputy succumbed to his injuries. The deputy, a 5-year veteran of the HCSO and a member of the Violent Person’s Task Force, has yet to be identified.
