A Chicago beach hotspot turned into a crime scene once again, as a teenage girl was charged with stabbing a woman in the midst of a heated argument near 31st Street Beach.
According to Chicago police, the altercation occurred just after 11:30 p.m. on Saturday in the 3000 block of South Fort Dearborn Drive. The 17-year-old suspect was in the middle of a verbal dispute with a 26-year-old woman when she brandished a sharp object and slashed the woman's arm.

However, the situation did not end there. The woman held a concealed carry license and FOID card, and she utilized her firearm to defend herself against the young attacker. She fired her weapon, striking the teenage girl in her shoulder and subsequently resulting in the girl's hospitalization and subsequent arrest.

The woman was brought to Insight Hospital in good condition, while the girl received treatment at the University of Chicago Medical Center before being taken into custody. She has been charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm.
This incident marks the latest in a series of violent events at the beach, including two fatalities earlier this month. In response, Ald. Lamont Robinson (4th) has called for the Chicago Park District to close the beach earlier for safety concerns.
Currently, the beach is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and swimming is allowed between 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the presence of lifeguards. Area 1 detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident.
In a separate incident, a 36-year-old man allegedly pulled a gun on a concealed carry permit holder in Chicago Saturday morning and was shot and critically wounded in the ensuing shootout.
The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. Saturday in the Englewood neighborhood’s 200-block of West 63rd Street, as reported by CBS News.
The 36-year-old man got into an argument with a 49-year-old man and, at some point during the incident, allegedly pulled a gun and shot at the 49-year-old.

The 49-year-old, a concealed carry permit holder, pulled his legal firearm and returned fire, critically wounding the younger man.
CBS News noted the 36-year-old man was transported to St. Bernard Hospital in critical condition.
