Buffalo police have made public the bodycam footage capturing the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Daevon Roberts by Officer Ronald Ammerman on Kensington Avenue.

The incident occurred on July 10, after Roberts, initially pulled over for speeding and window tint violations, attempted to flee the scene with a 6-year-old child in the car without their seatbelt on.

In a press conference, Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia defended the officer's actions, stating, “I believe that is a justified use of force that occurred the other night."

Reports indicate that Roberts failed to provide valid identification and drove off as the officer's arm was inside the vehicle.

The video reveals the high-speed chase involving pleas from Officer Ammerman for Roberts to stop.

These events led to the fatal shooting, with the discovery of a loaded gun under the driver's seat during a search of Roberts' vehicle further complicating the encounter.

Roberts, previously facing charges related to gun possession and reckless endangerment, had family ties to a previous incident involving the death of 12-year-old Jaylen Griffin.

During the ongoing investigations, both officers present at the scene have been placed on administrative leave as department protocols dictate.

This latest incident marks the second fatal police-involved shooting in Buffalo this year.
