Shotgun-Wielding Suspect Opens Fire On An L.A. Police Helicopter, Gets Fatally Shot [VIDEO]

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies fired on [1] a man armed with a shotgun on the Thursday evening of June 13 after he shot at a Sheriff’s Department helicopter while standing on a home’s roof in a neighborhood near Compton.

Deputies from the sheriff’s Compton station responded to a report of an armed man possibly under the influence in the 14600 block of Cahita Avenue, just south of Rosecrans Avenue, around 7:45 p.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found the 30-year-old suspect in the backyard. He then climbed onto the roof of the house, ignoring commands to surrender.

The Sheriff’s Department helicopter confirmed that the suspect was armed and firing the shotgun in their direction.

In response to the continued threat, two deputies on the ground fired at the suspect as he shot at the helicopter.

The suspect was treated by the sheriff’s SWAT team and L.A. County firefighter-paramedics after being struck by gunfire.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, and his identity has not been released. No first responders or civilians were injured during the incident.
