Trump, who had requested more agents, magnetometers, and extra snipers at public events he attended, was turned down by senior officials who argued that the agency lacked the necessary resources, the sources disclosed.

The security lapse culminated in the shocking incident at a Pennsylvania outdoor rally, where a 20-year-old gunman opened fire, injuring multiple individuals and killing a rally attendee sitting behind the stage.

The ex-president’s campaign leadership was purportedly assured by Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle that there had been no request for additional assistance before the assassination attempt.

However, in light of the revelations, Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the Secret Service, conceded that Trump’s requests for extra security had been denied.

The agency substantiated its decision by claiming that local law enforcement was utilized for the rally in Pennsylvania due to the refusal of additional resources.

It was unveiled that Trump’s personal detail sought resources from Secret Service headquarters, and only in the event of denial would they approach the field office, which would then supplement with available resources, including local law enforcement.

Criticism has been directed at the Secret Service for failing to prevent the assailant from targeting the ex-president, prompting Trump to continue his campaign trail under enhanced security measures.

During an indoor event in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Trump was reportedly provided with an “unprecedented level of police officers,” as he rallied alongside his new running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, in front of a crowd of approximately 14,000 enthusiastic supporters.
