Secret Service Now Under Investigation By Trump Appointed Inspector General [VIDEOS]

The Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general has launched an investigation [1] into the Secret Service’s handling of security for former President Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania following an assassination attempt against the former president.

In a notice posted on the inspector general’s website [4], the probe aims to “Evaluate the United States Secret Service’s (Secret Service) process for securingformer President Trump’s July 13, 2024 campaign event.”

The date of the investigation’s commencement was not provided. A separate independent review of the security at the rally had been directed by Joe Biden.

Questions persist about how the 20-year-old shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was able to climb on top of a building and open fire at Trump and rally attendees in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle stated in interviews that her agency was responsible for the implementation and execution of security at the event.

Cheatle also addressed concerns about the building where the assailant positioned himself, explaining the decision to secure the building from the inside due to its sloped roof.

However, Cheatle’s comments have faced criticism on social media, with some questioning the rationale behind securing the building internally despite its sloped roof configuration.
