Law enforcement officials in Riverside County were involved in a fatal shooting during a probation compliance check in Perris on Monday, resulting in the death of an armed individual.

 

The incident unfolded at approximately 8 a.m. at a residence in the 3300 block of Albillo Loop, where deputies from the Riverside Alternative Sentencing Program were conducting the compliance check. According to reports, the confrontation occurred in the home’s backyard after officers engaged with several individuals. It was alleged that one of the individuals provided false information and attempted to walk away, disregarding deputies’ orders to halt.

In attempts to gain compliance, law enforcement employed the use of a Taser, which proved ineffective in stopping the individual. Subsequently, the individual reportedly brandished a handgun, prompting at least one deputy to discharge their firearm.

 

The man was then transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Meanwhile, the area surrounding the residence was designated as a significant crime scene, with a sizable law enforcement presence throughout the day, investigating the shooting.

Residents in the vicinity reported hearing a series of gunshots, estimated to be between 4 to 8 rounds, heightening the tense situation. Fortunately, no deputies sustained injuries during the encounter.
