An incident in San Dimas on Thursday afternoon resulted in one woman being killed and two others hospitalized following a possible domestic dispute involving a Samurai-style sword.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call near the intersection of South Huntington Avenue and Basset Court around 3:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they encountered a woman with blood on her leg and hands holding the sword near a parked U-Haul box truck.

The woman surrendered the sword and directed the deputies to a nearby residence, where they found another woman with injuries who was later pronounced dead at the scene. A third female was found unharmed in the residence and taken to a local hospital for a medical emergency, possibly a heart attack.

The cause of the violence remains unknown as language barriers have posed challenges in communication, with the involved parties speaking only Mandarin Chinese. Authorities are investigating the incident with assistance from interpreters.
