A California man is in custody after fatally shooting his wife, their 6-year-old son, and his wife’s parents, as confirmed by the Alameda Police Department on Thursday.
Alameda Police Department Chief Nishant Joshi stated at a press conference that a second son, aged 1, was also shot and is currently in critical condition.

The incident unfolded at a residence on Kitty Hawk Road in the City of Alameda around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, prompting a neighbor to call 911. The suspect’s father-in-law, who had been shot, sought help at the neighbor’s residence before passing away.
The police found the other family members deceased inside the home, the presumed location of the shootings.
The suspect, Shane Killian, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, according to Sarah Henry, a spokesperson for the department. Killian did not resist arrest.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the crime but stated that multiple firearms were retrieved from the home.
Police maintained that there is no current threat to the public, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
