Jordan Love is set to remain with the Green Bay Packers for the long term. The 25-year-old quarterback has signed a contract extension after an impressive first season as a starter, completing 64.2 percent of his passes for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns.

Love also led the Packers to the playoffs, winning the Wild Card game before losing to the 49ers in the Divisional Round. The new deal ends Love’s holdout from training camp, as he had informed the team he would not practice until a new contract was in place.

Love entered the 2024 season on a one-year extension after the organization declined the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. Without a new deal, he could have become an unrestricted free agent after 2024.

However, all the holdout talk is over now as Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract with the Packers on Friday night. The deal includes a $75 million signing bonus and $155 million in guaranteed money. The new contract will start in the 2025 season, where Love will earn $55 million. His average annual value (AAV) for the extension is the highest among NFL quarterbacks.

The team now hopes to achieve another Super Bowl victory with Love at the helm, aiming for their first title since Rodgers’ win in 2010. Love, the 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, had limited playing time as Rodgers’ backup in 2021 and 2022 but proved his value in his first year as a starter by throwing for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns and leading the team to its first playoff win since 2021.

Packers’ general manager Brian Gutekunst had expressed the organization’s intention to keep Love as their franchise quarterback. The Packers have had consistent success at the quarterback position, with Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre leading the team since 1992.
