Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies shot and wounded a suspect in Palmdale on Monday night after responding to a report of attempted break-ins.

The incident took place near the intersection of 20th Street East and Avenue R.

The suspect, identified as Jason Baker, was allegedly holding two large blades and attempting to break into cars.

Upon arrival, deputies initially used less-lethal rounds on the suspect before a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect, Jason Baker, was struck by gunfire and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being medically cleared for booking.

The Sheriff's Department reported that the suspect was "uncooperative." No deputies were injured during the shooting.

The suspect was possibly connected to earlier calls for similar disturbances, where a person was seen holding two screwdrivers, according to the sheriff's spokesperson.
