Former New York Giants football legend Lawrence Taylor found himself in hot water yet again this week, landing behind bars for alleged failure to comply with the conditions set for registered sex offenders, according to a report from TMZ.
According to Broward County jail officials, Taylor surrendered himself on Wednesday at approximately 5 PM to address an outstanding felony warrant. The charge against him involved failure to report a change of name or residence.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer spent several hours in jail before eventually regaining his freedom around 3 AM the following morning.
This marks the second instance in recent years where Taylor has faced similar accusations, as just last December, he was locked up for a closely related offense.

In response to the allegations, Taylor’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, issued a statement asserting that the situation is simply a significant "misunderstanding." "My client, Lawrence Taylor, will be pleading 'Not Guilty' to the recent charges," Eiglarsh indicated. "As with the previous incident involving the same allegations, Mr. Taylor did not knowingly commit any criminal offense. We are confident that, once the prosecutors review the exculpatory evidence demonstrating Mr. Taylor's innocence, he will once again achieve a favorable outcome."
The football icon has been deemed a sex offender since 2011 after being embroiled in accusations involving a 16-year-old girl. Consequently, he is mandated to adhere to various conditions, such as promptly informing law enforcement of any changes to his name or place of residence.
Following the 2021 incident, Taylor reached a resolution with prosecutors, entering a no-contest plea to a reduced charge related to residency restriction for individuals convicted of certain sex offenses.
As for his latest legal predicament, the timing of Taylor's court appearance remains uncertain, leaving individuals to speculate on what lies ahead for the former football great.
