The much-anticipated rematch between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal took place on Saturday, marking a significant chapter in their storied rivalry. Diaz emerged victorious by majority decision with scores of 95-95, 97-93, and 98-92, avenging his earlier TKO loss to Masvidal at UFC 244.
Diaz demonstrated impressive cardio throughout the match, throwing a staggering 740 total punches over the course of 10 rounds. Despite this, Masvidal managed to outland Diaz with a higher number of total punches (182) and power punches (152).
After the fight, the fighters had plenty to say. Diaz, never one to hold back, declared, “I’m going to beat Jake Paul’s f***ing ass.” He also mentioned potential future bouts with UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards and other highly ranked boxers.
Masvidal, on the other hand, expressed his frustration with the decision, stating, “I thought I won. I had the harder shots.”
This boxing match served as a rematch of their UFC days when they first clashed for the inaugural “BMF” belt. Diaz had specifically called out Masvidal after defeating Anthony Pettis at UFC 241, leading to their encounter at UFC 244. That fight ended in disappointment for Diaz, with a doctor stopping the match due to a cut over his eye, granting Masvidal the TKO victory.
