The Columbus Division of Police has recently made public the body camera footage depicting the events leading up to a fatal shooting near the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee.

The incident occurred just after 1 p.m. about a mile from the Fiserv Forum, within the RNC’s outer perimeter, where the officers were on duty, as stated by Columbus police.

During a press conference, Milwaukee Police Department Chief Jeffrey Norman revealed that 13 uniformed Columbus officers, part of the bicycle patrol, were engaged in daily event discussions in their designated area when they spotted a 43-year-old man wielding a knife in each hand, engaged in a physical altercation with an unarmed individual.

The bodycam footage captured officers forming a circle, with one of them alerting, “He’s got a knife. Yes, he does.”

Subsequently, as the officers approached the armed man, shouting ensued, demanding him to drop his weapon.

The confrontation escalated, leading to the officers discharging multiple shots at the man, resulting in his fatal injury.
