Joe Biden has instructed the U.S. Secret Service to grant protection to independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the aftermath of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.

Despite being viewed as a dark horse in the competition for Electoral College votes and the presidency, Kennedy's campaign gatherings have drawn significant attention from his supporters.
The assassination attempt involving Donald Trump transpired in Butler, Pennsylvania, over the weekend, but Trump did not sustain any serious injuries.
Mayorkas' announcement comes just hours after Trump pressured the Biden administration with a post on Truth Social:
