At a Sunday concert in Sydney, Australia, Jack Black’s band Tenacious D couldn’t resist taking a jab [2] at Donald Trump just a day after the former president narrowly escaped an assassination attempt.
NEW: Comedian Jack Black’s bandmate makes a “birthday wish” during a performance in Sydney, says he wishes they “don’t miss Trump next time.”
Black was videoed giving Tenacious D band member Kyle Gass a birthday cake.
“Make a wish,” Black said.
Gass then responded: “Don’t… pic.twitter.com/jSyqrKISOl [3]

During the show, a band member said, “Don’t miss Trump next time.” While the speaker of this comment remains uncertain, reports [5] suggest it may have been band member Kyle Gass.
It’s worth noting that expressing any desire for harm to come to a U.S. president is considered a federal crime [6].
One can only hope that this band member was simply caught up in the moment and didn’t actually mean such a malicious statement.
Interestingly, Jack Black, known for his role as the voice of the Kung Fu Panda character in DreamWorks Animation films, has recently shown his support for the other side of the political spectrum.
Just this past June, he spoke at Joe Biden’s Hollywood fundraiser stage, joining the ranks of liberal Hollywood icons like George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

It seems there’s no shortage of theatrics in the entertainment industry, with celebrities like Jack Black and his band Tenacious D blurting out controversial comments on stage.
Time will tell if this incident sparks any repercussions for the band or if it will simply fade into the background of Hollywood’s ongoing political drama.
It is also worth noting that George Clooney called for Biden to step down [10] just weeks after his fundraiser.
