LAPD Capt. Kelly Muniz reported that officers found the injured 25-year-old suspect inside the home, located on the 11600 block of Addison Street. The homeowner, who was alone at the time, was also injured and taken to a local hospital. Details on how the homeowner was injured remain unclear, but Capt. Muniz mentioned the home appears to have been randomly targeted.

The injured suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was transported to the hospital in critical condition. There is currently no information on whether the intruders were armed.

“Two suspects entered a residence with an occupant inside,” Capt. Muniz stated. “That occupant armed himself with a handgun and fired at the potential burglars that were inside of his home.”

While the nature of the homeowner’s injuries remains uncertain, it is confirmed he was hospitalized following the incident. The second suspect, who is still at large, is described as an African American male in his early 20s.

Following the break-in, police established a perimeter around the neighborhood, urging residents to remain indoors as they searched for the remaining suspect, according to Fox 11.

Capt. Muniz also noted an uptick in burglaries across Los Angeles, highlighting the increasing need for vigilance among residents.
