Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, a supporter of Joe Biden, had a hot mic moment [1] on Wednesday, expressing his frustrations about the current state of the presidential race.
Overheard speaking at a crime-fighting event in Chicago, Pritzker revealed, “I mean, we’re just going to keep fighting. I don’t know what to say. You know, got to do what we have to do.” He bluntly added, “I don’t like where we are.”
A spokesperson for the governor clarified that Pritzker’s candid remarks revolved around the presidential race and the ongoing discourse surrounding the 81-year-old Biden’s position as the presumptive Democratic nominee. Speculation has circulated that Pritzker, aged 59, could potentially step in as Biden’s replacement on the Democratic ticket if the need arises.
Despite Biden’s lackluster debate performance against former President Donald Trump last month, Pritzker has continuously lent his unwavering support to the incumbent, stating firmly, “Joe Biden is our nominee. I’m for Joe Biden. I’ve been campaigning for Joe Biden.”
Joining a group of Democratic governors in a recent face-to-face meeting with Joe Biden at the White House, Pritzker divulged that Biden confided in them about his need for more rest [2] and his plans to wrap up events by 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Biden campaign chose to cancel a Chicago fundraiser scheduled for next month, as reported by CNN [3], adding to the speculation and uncertainty surrounding Biden’s future in the race.
When pressed by reporters, Pritzker remarked, “I think everything’s fluid right now,” downplaying rumors and praising the president’s successful online fundraising efforts.
