Hollywood director Rob Reiner is the newest addition to the chorus of prominent Democrats urging President Joe Biden to step down from the race.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Reiner declared, “It’s time to stop messing around. If the Convicted Felon wins, we lose our Democracy. Joe Biden has effectively served US with honor, decency, and dignity. It’s time for Joe Biden to step down.”
It’s time to stop fucking around. If the Convicted Felon wins, we lose our Democracy. Joe Biden has effectively served US with honor, decency, and dignity. It’s time for Joe Biden to step down.

This call from Reiner follows similar sentiments expressed by notable Democratic figures from Hollywood, including Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, Damon Lindelof, and Abigail Disney [2], as well as Ari Emanuel, who voiced his frustration after Biden’s widely criticized performance in the June 27 debate against former President Donald Trump.
Reiner’s statement comes on the heels of his hosting a campaign fundraiser at his Brentwood home, attended by Vice President Kamala Harris. At the event on June 29, Harris defended Biden, acknowledging that it wasn’t his “finest hour” but asserting that Trump remains “a threat to our democracy,” emphasizing that “none of that changed because of a day in June.”
Meanwhile, Biden was busy campaigning, thanking voters in Pennsylvania for getting him elected as Senator in Delaware [3].
BIDEN: “Even when I was running for Senate, each time I ran, quite frankly, not a joke, Philadelphia, in particular, got me across the line.
(Joe was a senator from Delaware)
