Former Top BBC News Anchor Charged Over Indecent Images Of Children [VIDEO]

Former BBC lead anchor, Huw Edwards, has been charged [1] by London’s Metropolitan Police Service with three counts of making indecent images of children.

Edwards, who was one of the BBC’s biggest names, resigned in July 2023 for health reasons after being suspended.

The charges relate to offenses that allegedly took place between December 2020 and April 2022 and involve images shared on WhatsApp.

Edwards is due to appear at Westminster Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. He is accused of having six Category A images, 12 Category B pictures, and 19 Category C photographs. If found guilty, he could face up to six months in jail.

The accusations regarding Edwards’ behavior became front-page news in July 2023, with his wife Vicky Flind remarking that he was “suffering from serious mental health issues.”

The father of five had been admitted to a hospital. Despite this, Edwards himself has not publicly commented on the allegations.

Edwards was one of the highest-paid stars at the broadcaster, with an annual salary of more than $565,000.

He served as the lead anchor on the BBC’s night-time news and was responsible for the network’s coverage of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.

The police have urged both media and the public to be cautious with the information shared on social media, so they don’t affect future proceedings.
