JSO Chief Alan Parker recounted that Paquin was found approaching the vehicle while walking a dog. Upon questioning, Paquin claimed ownership of the car.
However, when the officer instructed Paquin to sit down, the suspect disregarded the command, stayed on his phone, and attempted to brush past the officer to reach the vehicle.

Chief Parker further explained that the officer tried to intervene, but Paquin made a sudden move, entering the front of the vehicle and brandishing a firearm. “It wasn’t as simple as turning around with a gun in his hand,” expressed Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters. “He was very, very close.”
In response to the imminent threat, the officer discharged their weapon at Paquin, prompting him to drop his firearm.
Additional assistance arrived, and medical aid was promptly provided by the Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department, ensuring that Paquin was swiftly transported to the hospital.
Following surgical procedures, Paquin’s condition was reported as stable as of Tuesday night.
